"biography": "<p>Dr. Agnes first joined FMP in 2006 before returning to her native Philippines in 2010 and then rejoining our pediatric team in 2013. She received her MD at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, the Philippines, before undertaking a further educational commission for foreign medical graduates in the U.S.</p><p>Originally commencing her career in the year 2000, her love for children drew her immediately to pediatrics, often marveling at the resilience of her child patients. "biography": "<p>A more than eight-year veteran of the Internal Medicine Department at Family Medical Practice, Dr. Alfredo is approaching 21 years of medical experience since he received his M.D. from the Far Eastern University in Manila in 2002. Following the wishes of his parents, and ultimately his own passion for the calling to this noble profession, he commenced his medical career at Bautista Hospital, also in the Philippines, in 2004.</p><p>From his earliest days in medicine, Dr. Alfredo was drawn to the sheer variety of medical cases he examined despite the need to sacrifice so much leisure and family time to fulfill his duties. However, he enjoys the broad range of conditions presented to him on a daily basis, and remains dedicated to his profession, finding that every extra effort and sacrifice made for his patients is greatly worth the effort. Taking away their pain, treating their diseases, and seeing the relief on their faces after treatment is what gives him the greatest joy and satisfaction.</p><p>He has further developed skills in Emergency Medicine, greatly enjoying the excitement and challenge of the ER. "biography": "<p>Joining the team in mid-2012, Dr. Allan brings almost a decade of emergency experience to each patient that he sees at the ER room in FMP’s District 1 medical center. "biography": "<p>Russian native Dr. Kate gravitated towards Pediatrics early in her career, drawn by her love of children. She graduated from the Pediatrics Department of the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University in 2010, and after completing her internship in Pediatrics at the Izmailovsky Children's Hospital in Moscow, Dr. Kate joined Family Medical Practice in 2014.</p><p>With a special interest in Nutrition, Dr. Kate was awarded her PG certificate and diploma in Dietetics in Moscow, 2018. She also trained in the Russian Scientific Center for Medical Rehabilitation, which included nutritional treatment for patients with respiratory, GI, and heart disease, obesity, and those in postoperative recovery. "biography": "<p>Dr. Jane graduated from her native New York’s Stony Brook Medical School, and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Long Island’s North Shore University Hospital. She worked for two years at an outpatient clinic in Washington D.C. before arriving in Vietnam in the year 2000. She joined the team at Family Medical Practice in 2002, while simultaneously serving on the U.S. Consulate’s health units, and now exclusively practices at FMP.</p><p>One of the longest-serving members of FMP’s Internal Medicine Department, Dr. Jane manages a broad spectrum of patient diseases, ailments and conditions, with special interest in Dermatology and Infectious Disease. "biography": "<p><b>Head of Pediatrics</b></p><p></p><p>Perhaps the most well-known figure at Family Medical Practice thanks to frequently posting pediatric advice on social media, Dr. Jonathan is a graduate of the Sackler School of Medicine of Tel Aviv University, then undergoing his residency in the Pediatric Department of the Wolfson Medical Center in Israel, earning his certification as a specialist in pediatrics. He first joined Family Medical Practice in 2005, and returned in 2013 following a short period in Melbourne.</p><p>Dr. Jonathan describes his gravitation toward the discipline as soul-marking. Starting out by caring for several younger brothers and sisters while growing up in his native Israel, the pediatric ward already felt like home by the time he was a resident—and his subsequent career largely revolved around the discipline, with various excursions in intensive care and trauma & life support.</p><p>A published author on pediatric care, Dr. Jonathan is frequently invited by the local community to conduct health talks, having addressed many schools and parent groups on pediatric health issues and other medical topics. "biography": "<p>A dedicated doctor with broad clinical expertise, Dr. Linh—a German board-certified general surgeon with colorectal specialty—developed an interest in Emergency Medicine early on in his studies at the medical university in Munich, Germany. During his surgical residency program, he also branched out into pre-hospital emergency medicine, anesthesiology and gynecology, broadening his experience with volunteer posts in Ethiopia, Sierra Leone and Bangladesh, where he practiced obstetrics, surgery and “slum medicine”.</p><p>Working at Family Medical Practice has now given Dr. Linh the opportunity to expand his medical repertoire, giving him experience with tropical medicine and pediatrics while at the same time focusing on general and emergency practice. "biography": "<p>Dr. Miguel undertook his psychiatric studies in the U.K. following the completion of a medical degree in Portugal at the University of Porto. He trained in Cambridge and London and is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He holds a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in General Adult Psychiatry from the General Medical Council, U.K.</p><p>Prior to joining the team at FMP, Dr. Miguel worked as a community psychiatrist in Cambridge, treating a variety of mental health conditions affecting the local population. He has worked in various capacities as a consultant psychiatrist, both within inpatient and outpatient departments, and has led a number of mental health inpatient and community psychiatry services, including a specialist community psychiatry service for people with complex personality disorders.</p><p>Dr. Miguel was a founding member of the Sustainability Committee of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and was a clinical teacher and undergraduate tutor for medical students in the School of Clinical Medicine of the University of Cambridge until his arrival at Family Medical Practice.</p><p>Over the years, Dr. Miguel has served as a clinical supervisor for doctors at different levels in psychiatric or general practice training. "biography": "<p><b>Medical Director</b></p><p></p><p>Family Medical Practice’s resident specialist in liver disease, Argentinian native Dr. Pedro received his MD with honors at the Universidad de Buenos Aires in 1991, originally practicing as an internist before completing further programs in the U.S. at Pittsburgh University’s liver transplant unit in 1997.</p><p>Inexorably drawn to patients suffering from hopelessly critical liver conditions, his work with the most complex hepatic diseases saw him count among the most elite liver specialists in his country. A self-professed workaholic, he pursued excellence in his field and was eventually involved in opening the first liver transplant unit in an Argentinian public hospital—becoming a leader in transplantations in cases of fulminant hepatic failure. He has attended specialist conferences in the discipline all over the world and continues to follow research into new treatments and drugs in the field, marvelling at the rapid evolution and technical development in his area. "biography": "<p>A French native with over three decades of experience in medicine, Dr. Serge Gradstein received his Doctorate from Rene Descartes University Paris 5, and completed his professional residency in Pediatrics at Israel’s Kaplan University, where he functioned as their Senior Pediatrician for two years.</p><p>Switching gears, he initiated a residency in Infectious Disease at Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva, the largest city in southern Israel, where his focus was caring for patients suffering from rare tropical diseases and other less common infections. "biography": "<p><b>Head of Emergency Medicine</b></p><p><br/>Initially joining Family Medical Practice in Hanoi in 2005, Dr. Thinh relocated to Ho Chi Minh City in 2011, where he works in our busy emergency practice. He is a graduate of the Hanoi Medical School, and also spent a year in the U.S. where he furthered his studies in intensive care.</p><p>Drawn to the fast pace of emergency, Dr. Thinh has been an integral part of both our medical team and the development of our emergency medical response system, ∗9999. "biography": "<p>Among the best-trained emergency doctors in the city, Dr. Truong undertook his six-year medical degree in clinical pharmacology in Ho Chi Minh City at Pham Ngoc Thach Medical University (where he topped his class three years running) before going on to study critical care medicine and toxicology. He continued his studies in Australia, picking up qualifications in advanced cardiac life support and ECMO (heart/lung machine systems), among other related disciplines.</p><p>Joining the public health system after graduation, he became head of the emergency and intensive care departments in a local medical facility, but quickly grew frustrated with limitations in hospital policy brought on by a general unfamiliarity with international guidelines. Before working for FMP, he cooperated with our evacuation team in critical international transfers, and eventually joined us on the ER floor in order to study international-standard protocols in emergency medical response.</p><p>Dr. Truong’s ambition is to spread advanced life saving practices throughout local emergency centers to improve the quality of Vietnamese first-responder care. He continues to lecture at Pham Ngoc Thach, and is a trainer for Operation Smile, a charity providing surgery for children with cleft palates. "biography": "<p>With more than 25 years in the field, Dr. Thoi has always remained at the forefront of medical imaging techniques and technologies—ensuring the best possible diagnostics for FMP’s patients for more than a decade.</p><p>Dr. Thoi received his MD from the HCMC University of Medicine and Pharmacology. Amazed by the power of noninvasive imaging techniques to examine the inside of the body, he realized he was more interested in diagnosis than treatment, and thus conducted a series of further studies in medical imaging both in Vietnam and Singapore. This role at the forefront of diagnosis remains his passion to this day.</p><p>Dr. Thoi finds his work greatly rewarding, enjoying the process of scanning for signs of disease so his colleagues can perform treatments. "biography": "<p></p><p>Dr. Brian has been the full -time medical director at FMP Hanoi for 12 years. He studied in the UK and began practicing medicine in Canada in 1981, where he served as a clinical hepatologist/epidemiologist at the Experimental Liver Unit in Mt. Sinai University Hospital, Toronto for 10 years.</p><p>Dr. Brian’s post-graduate medical training includes study at Cambridge University (epidemiology and biostatistics, 1995; University College London (tropical and infectious disease, 1997); the University of Toronto Hospitals (Hospital for Sick Children—hematology and bone marrow transplant, 1991–94); and Mt. Sinai Hospital (hepatology—clinical trials, experimental liver/virology unit, 1997–-2005).</p><p>Coming to Vietnam in 2006, Dr. Brian has had significant exposure working in both rural Vietnam and Cambodia in medical research and delivering/teaching clinical medicine. As a physician, he is especially enthused about infectious/tropical illnesses and liver disease in both their diagnoses and treatment in Vietnam, where in this capacity he is able to serve both expatriate and Vietnamese Hanoi-ans. He is also passionate about improving the quality of medical access to disadvantaged rural and ethnic Vietnamese communities in the mountains, especially to orphanages.</p><p>Having participated in many personal (as well as NGO and clinic sponsored) medical missions in North, Central and in the Southern Highlands of Vietnam, Dr. Brian has written a number of medical articles for local consumption, lectures regularly and co--hosts a weekly medical radio show on Voice of Vietnam. He lives with his wife in Hanoi and is proud father of four sons, all of whom live and work in Canada.</p><p>Dr. William Brian McNaull has been the full -time medical director at FMP Hanoi for 12 years. "biography": "<p>One of the medical center’s longest-serving general practitioners, Dr.Yaron Atzmon started work at FMP Hanoi in 2004. Earlier on in his career, he undertook his residency in the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center, during which time he developed an interest in aviation medicine and participated in many medical evacuations. Since arriving in Hanoi, Dr Yaron has taken the lead in developing the medical center’s ambulance services and in further enhancing the evacuation team and system.</p><p>As an internist, Dr Yaron enjoys taking care of emergency patients as well as complicated cases involving patients with a variety of chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetic and ischemic heart disease. Dr Yaron is enthusiastic about preventive medicine, and recently started a fellowship with the American academy of anti-aging medicine.</p>",

"biography": "<p><b>Speciality:</b> Orthopedic Surgery (Shoulder, Elbow and Knee Specialist)</p><p></p><p>Dr. Andres Sosa finished medical school at the University of Los Andes (Venezuela) in 2007.</p><p>His residency in Orthopedics took place at the University of Oriente (Venezuela) from 2009 to 2012.<br/></p><p>Together with his residency, Dr. Sosa visited Colombia and Argentina to take the basic and advanced AO/ASIF training courses.<br/></p><p>He presented his research annually in congresses and was a tutor in orthopaedics at the University of Oriente.</p><p>He studied a Master Degree in Upper Limb Surgery with the University of Bologna (Italy) for two years while he joined the Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Team at the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute of Bologna.<br/></p><p>Once back in Venezuela he practiced at Monagas Hospital and co-founded its Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Unit.<br/></p><p>In 2016 he joined a clinical program in upper limb sports medicine at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia (USA).</p><p>In 2017, he moved to Los Andes Hospital (Chile) while lecturing in orthopaedics at the University of Valparaiso.<br/></p><p>He obtained his second Master Degree in Shoulder Surgery with the International University of Andalucia (Spain) in 2017.<br/></p><p>Since living in Asia he often visits ArthoLab facilities in Singapore to keep his surgical skills up-to-date.</p><p>In January 2018, he joined Family Medical Practice Hanoi and is responsible for all orthopedic and trauma cases whether for surgical or conservative treatment.</p>",

"biography": "<p>Becoming a physician has been the fulfillment of Dr. Catherine’s childhood dream, and her journey into medicine has been a straight pathway. After graduating from high school, Dr. Catherine took up a bachelor’s degree in biology as a pre-medical course, from which she graduated Cum Laude in 2005 at Angeles University Foundation, Angeles City, Philippines. She pursued her doctor of medicine from the same university and graduated in 2009.</p><p>Undertaking a one-year internship at the Chinese General Hospital in Blumentritt Manila, she went on to pass the medical board examination in 2010 and was immediately hired as an emergency room resident physician in a 142-bed capacity hospital—Mother Teresa of Calcutta Medical Center, in which she gained enormous practical experience. She also worked as a company physician, retainer physician and part-time faculty in between.</p><p>She took up a basic course in occupational medicine in 2013 and was a member of the Philippine College of Occupational Medicine. After four years in general practice, she decided to enter the Family Medicine Residency Program, but a leap of faith led her to start at Family Medical Practice Hanoi in May 2014. Prof. Duc Anh graduated from Hanoi Medical University in 1982 and undertook his residency in the National Eye Hospital in Hanoi until 1985, where he also received a post-graduate Diploma of Ophthalmology and later a PhD. in Medicine. Since then, he has remained a teacher at the University and Head of the Department of Refraction of the National Eye Hospital.</p><p>Assoc. Prof. Duc Anh is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and of the Vietnam Ophthalmology Society. He has professional qualifications in general ophthalmology practice, pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus, general ophthalmic surgery and refractive surgery. He is a teacher of ophthalmology. "biography": "<p>Having worked in general practice for almost 20 years—almost a decade of which were with Family Medical Practice—our Danang-based medical director Dr. Chris still has a great passion for the breadth of experience to be gained by working in this field. A graduate of the Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas in Manila, he worked as a General Practitioner in private and government hospitals in the Philippines providing services to children and adults, working most of his practice in a busy government hospital that serves almost 50–100 patients a day.</p><p>Dr. Chris describes his job as being on the front line of patient service, taking crucial responsibility for primary health before patients move on to varied specialists as required. A self-professed all-rounder, he believes that the diversity of knowledge that comes with this profession is one of his key strengths. He has cared for the sick in ER, doing hospital rounds and attending patients at the outpatient department, and also had a few years’ training in minor ER surgeries and performing emergency C-sections.</p><p>Dr. Chris enjoyed the opportunity to work in an international hospital in his city that services expats and U.S. retired military personnel, caring for all his patients with utmost dedication. "biography": "<p>Inspired on a pathway to medicine by her natural inclination toward charitable work, Dr. Kim Dung graduated from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy HCMC in 2009, the first in her family to pursue the field. "biography": "<p>With more than 15 years in medicine and ten with FMP, Dr. Cynthia has exceptional experience in primary and preventive care. Following her family into the medical field, she received her MD from the University of Manila before completing her residency at Capitol Medical Center, a private tertiary hospital, with further studies at the Philippine College of Physicians. While there, she was exposed to a broad range of patient conditions, from in-patient care to ER and ICU treatment, and was deeply affected to witness the impact of financial constraints on patient wellbeing. "biography": "<p>Joining Family Medical Practice in 2020, Dr. Florin Moise comes to us from his post as orthopedic surgery consultant, initially to the Brasov Military Hospital and then the private Medlife practice in his native Romania—where he specialized in lower limb arthroscopy, sports trauma, hip and knee reconstruction, joint preservation surgery and upper limb surgery. His experience in treating patients with military training accidents gave him the opportunity to extend his skills in trauma and repairing sports injuries.</p><p>An ambitious and driven medical student of the Bucharest University Hospital, Dr. Florin achieved high enough grades to allow him to specialize in orthopedics and study abroad—undertaking a fellowship in Cork, Ireland where he studied joint reconstruction and also sports medicine. Working in a public hospital located near a busy motorway exposed him to severe traffic injuries and a schedule of up to 10 surgeries per day. He also completed numerous postgraduate courses in the field, including a three months visiting fellowship in the US studying with the world’s foremost hip arthroscopist Dr. Marc Philippon.</p><p>Dr. Florin is an avid proponent of joint preservation surgery to repair/preserve damaged cartilage, meniscus and ligaments whenever possible. One popular modern technique is via collagen matrix repair, done arthroscopically—which has the potential to postpone the need for joint replacement. He hopes his position at Family Medical Practice will allow him to develop further as an orthopedic surgeon in an area with broad potential.</p><p>He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the European Society of Sports Knee Arthroscopy, and the Association of Trauma.</p><p>Dr. Florin Moise joined Family Medical Practice following his posts as orthopedic surgery consultant to the Brasov Military Hospital and the private Medlife practice in his native Romania. "biography": "<p>Dr. Julián Alberto Strati comes to our clinic after many years of intensive work in the ICU at Hospital Interzonal General de Agudos in Buenos Aires, where he undertook his medical residency, becoming chief of residents in 2010. Originally completing his MD at the University of Buenos Aires in 2005, Dr. Julián went on to study a second specialty in pneumology at Muñiz Hospital to complement his understanding of the common lung conditions suffered by his ICU patients.</p><p></p><p>While at first it was on the insistence of his parents that he pursued a career in medicine, Dr. Julián soon discovered he had a passion for anatomy, later finding great satisfaction in working with the adrenaline and drama of intensive care. At the hospital, he would often take 24 hours shifts, sometimes working as long as 48 hours straight. He also has an interest in medical technologies and their application in the ICU setting.</p>",

"biography": "<p>Dr.Olga graduated from the Lviv National Medical University in 1996 and commenced her medical career at the Volyn Regional Maternity Hospital, Ukraine. Since 1998 she has been a registered Obstetric and Gynaecology doctor providing care to women with gynaecological health matters as well as managing low-risk and complex obstetric cases throughout pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period. Her main focus has been intrapartum care (during labour) and she is competent in all types of delivery: vaginal, instrumental and operative (Caesarean Section).</p><p>As a member of the multidisciplinary team, Dr.Olga has worked in both emergency care and routine practice. In addition to her extensive practice within the intrapartum unit she has also provided specialist clinical care to women within the gynaecology department, extra-genital pregnancy department and antenatal clinic.<br/></p><p>As well as working regionally and providing care to the public, Dr Olga worked at the Ministry of Internal Affair, Ukraine as a consultant; here she provided consultations for government officials and their families. Dr Olga regularly participates in education seminars teaching women about sexually transmitted infections, contraception, female cancers and obstetric information on pregnancy, birth and care for the new baby.</p>",

"biography": "<p>Having always been drawn to a career in healthcare, Ria was drawn to physiotherapy after experiencing several minor injuries during sports and developing an interest and appreciation for rehabilitation and injury management. After graduating with a BSc in Physiotherapy from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland, in 2013, Ria worked for one year at a private physiotherapy clinic before spending a further 7 years in the National Health Service (NHS) in Scotland. He received his Japanese National Physician’s License in 2013.
